Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information John 812 LLC ("BlueMarble," "we," "us," or "our") collects when you use ARE Prep, our web service for preparing for the Architect Registration Examination (the "Service"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.
What we collect · How we use it · Sharing & sub-processors · Retention · Security · Your choices · Children · Changes · Contact
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run an exam-practice service. Specifically:
Account information
- Email address and name. You provide these when you create an account. You can sign up with an email and password, with a sign-in link we email you, or with Google Sign-In where offered. When you use Google, we receive your name and email address from Google so we can create and identify your account; we do not receive your Google password.
Practice activity
- Your study data. As you use the Service we keep an append-only log of your practice activity: the questions you were shown, the options you selected, whether you were right, how long you took, the confidence you reported, and your practice sessions. We use this to compute your progress, your accuracy and estimated mastery by exam objective, the answer patterns ("traps") that catch you, and what to study next.
Technical data
- Basic technical data. Like any web service, our servers process standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) as needed to operate the Service and keep it secure.
- Fonts and math rendering. The Service loads fonts from Google Fonts and a math-rendering library from the jsDelivr content network. As with any web request, those services receive your IP address and browser type when your browser fetches the files.
Cookies and browser storage
- Sign-in cookie. When you sign in we set a cookie that keeps you signed in. It is required for the Service to work.
- Local storage. Your browser also stores a few preferences on your device, such as whether answers are shown after each question or at the end, so they survive a page reload.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or payment card details, we do not use advertising or analytics cookies on this Service, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
2. How we use your information
- Provide the practice questions, explanations, concept cards and progress reports;
- Create and secure your account and keep you signed in;
- Compute your progress, accuracy, mastery and study recommendations from your practice log;
- Send account-related emails you have asked for or that are necessary to operate the Service (for example, sign-in links and password-reset emails);
- Improve the question bank: answer statistics across all learners tell us which items are too hard, too easy, or miskeyed;
- Protect the Service against fraud, abuse, and security threats, and comply with legal obligations.
What we do not do. We do not show third-party ads in the Service, we do not use your information to target ads to you, and we do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. Sharing and sub-processors
We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers ("sub-processors") that help us run the Service, and only as needed for them to perform their function. As of the date above, these are:
- Railway — cloud hosting and database (stores your account and practice data).
- Resend — sends transactional emails (sign-in links and password-reset messages).
- Google — identity provider, if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Google Fonts and jsDelivr — deliver fonts and the math-rendering library to your browser.
We do not make your profile or activity public. We may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service. If we are ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
4. Data retention
We keep your account and practice data for as long as your account is active so the Service can show your progress over time. When you delete your account (see Your choices), we delete your associated personal data from our active systems. Residual copies may persist for a limited time in routine backups before they are overwritten, and we may retain limited records where we are legally required to. Anonymous answer statistics used to calibrate the question bank are not linked to you after deletion.
5. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls limiting who can reach production data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.
6. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account. You can delete your account and all saved answers at any time from the Progress screen. You can also email us to request deletion.
- Access and correction. To request a copy of your data or a correction, contact us.
- Regional rights. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR/UK GDPR or U.S. state privacy laws (for example, to access, correct, delete, or port your data, or to object to certain processing). To exercise any such right, contact us using the details below.
7. Children
ARE Prep is intended for architecture candidates and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us at the address below and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, take additional steps to notify you where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
